kernel 3.2 no root device found

i compiled a linux kernel 3.2 with fedora 16 , but when i try to load system with my compiled kernel i run into an error below.

by the way my fedora 16 runs on vmware server.
and i can load my system with original kernel.

This is a sign that you either doesn't have compiled in a necessary driver or didn't have generated a proper initrd when compiling those drivers as a module.

yes , but i really want to know which driver should i choose to include when i compile kernel.

Looks like it is the LVM modules. If you want to compile again from working kernel you could copy the config file with:

cp /boot/config-$(uname -r) ./.config
