Hi Guys,

I have RH8.0 running on my several box and I have tried compiling the kernel 2.6.8.1 on these servers . Previously it is running 2.4.26 . The compilation is success but after it is rebooted, I keep getting the iptables error when the system startup on the root prompt for the password.

I have tried enabling all the options in the kernel config IP: Netfilter Configuration and recompile the kernel. Still the same error. The iptables on the server is up-to-date version. The error message I received as follow ;

iptables v1.2.8: cant initialize iptables table filter: iptables who? ( do you need to insmod ? ) Perhaps your iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.

any ideas of this ?

Check for the iptables support in your kernel, you must have forgot that.

are u sure u have enabled network packet filtering(IPTABLES) support in your kernel(not as modules)
