Question kde3 KDM

Hi all,

I've recently installed kde3 onto my suse7.2 box and it works great. But I have been trying to get X windows to use the kdm that came with the kde3 packages.

I've tried modifying several files, such as /etc/init.d/xdm and /etc/profile and xsession, but I have been unable to get the version of KDM that I want to start!

Can anyone help???

Here is what I did, though I am using Mandrake so your mileage may vary.
Rename /path_to_kde2/bin/kdm to /path_to_kde2/bin/kdm.bak
then
ln -s /path_to_kde2/bin/kdm /path_to_kde3/bin/kdm

I dont know where Suse places kde3 but just link to that kdm.
that should do the trick.

Later
eric

I tried that, but the KDM would not start afterwards. I got an error on boot that looked like this...

starting service kdmstartproc: (some error) /opt/kde2/bin/kdm.

Which is the right path for the kdm.

Does anyone know how to change a SuSE setup to look at the desired location of kdm? I am not really getting anywhere at the moment
