Yes when your new KDE its a good idea to delete all the kde 2.2.2 packages other than kdelibs and kdebase 2.2.2.

Thanks guys for all the help. Im using KDE3.0 now hope this is more stable. But when i installing kde3.0 some debugger screen keep popping out i wonder whats that telling me this application blablabla signal blablabla . I think it crash . but i still able to run kde3.0

The same thing happened to me. I just ignored that error message. After I restarted my computer, it never happened again.

The only concern I have, about this method, is that the README clearly states that it is better to uninstall the old packages first, instead of upgrading them, because they "have switched to building more modular KDE packages".
