Unhappy jpilot/serial UART?

i have been trying to get jpilot to work but it always fails with an err. I think it may have to do with when i type #setserial /dev/ttyS0 it says UART:unknown and everything else is right. Autoconfig is unable to determine the UART. Im not sure if this is the reason though and would appreciate if anyone knows if i need to set the UART to a certain number or not or if i could do anything else I am using a PC with Mandrake 8.0. I have a SiS chipset the IDE chipset is SiS 5513 IDE
Thanks in advance

Just a thought, are you sure that ttyS0 is a valid comm port on your box? (I know, I know, it should be)

Check your BIOS (CMOS) too, make sure that it isn't disabled. And then try minicom to see what it thinks of ttyS0 (and I would even go so far as to check the device numbers associated with /dev/ttyS0 -- refer to /usr/src/~linux/Documentation/devices.txt for the correct device number).

And what about ttyS1? does it work?
