java applications - keyboard layout

I am using a SuSE 7.3 distribution.
i have swiss-german keyboard layout.

When i log in a normal user and start a java application (e.g. Together 6.0, Jext editor) some keyboard keys just don't work (e.g the "]", in swiss-german layout the top one left of the return key).

I can solve the problem by starting up yast2 and selecting at the hardware section/keyboard layout the swiss-german layout (which is already selected!) and then leaving the mask by pushing the ok-button.
.
But I have to do this each time after a new login.
Can anybody help me with a permanent solution?

Thanks, Shinzi
