This is a bit long winded.. I am writing because I need some advice. I realize I could search for each individual item, but perhaps this "all in one" will help a few newbs.

Has anyone tried getting the newer versions of Autocad to work under linux? Perhaps VMware or Virtualbox would be a better solution.

Does anyone know of any distro's out there where one can easily download a large chunk of the repo and take it home? Right now Im doing this with Mandy and PCLinuxOS, I guess it could work with the Debian/buntu based distros as well. I just don't wanna have to go through each individual directory looking for what I need.

Are many people having trouble with KDE 4.X.X across a wide variety of distros?

Has anyone played the old Pro Pinball games on Linux? I know its possible with wine or winex, and have seen it in one database or the other.

Im also looking for a good KDE distro with a large package repo.

I probably should have put this in General and read the Sticky. So perhaps the mods can move it as I dont know how.

Can't help you with the CAD or pinball but openSUSE 11.1 is the distribution I'm using and it has a large repo available and comes with KDE.

Thanks for the reply. I have considered Opensuse but never got around to trying it. It is supposed to be one of the better and well integrated KDE distros out there right now. PCLINUXOS is coming along nicely with KDE 4.3.1 and although they are picking up steam in making new packages available, many packages are still outdated. They just don't have the man power and support the big names have. I have a question. Are there package updates available for KDE and major apps when they stabilize and are released? Ex. KDE 4.3.1. This is important to me as I like to take advantage of new features and stabilization. Also when you upgrade does it break other stuff. Mandriva is really quirky. Can you download many packages and install them from your hard drive. On Mandy, I can setup a local repo relatively easy. I have dialup at home and get my packages at work then take em home for installation.
