Issues with HP Laserjet P2055dn, printer prints blank pages

So I have a brand new HP Laserjet P2055dn, attached via USB and it seems that when I try to print, all it does it spit out blank pages, until I kill the print job from CUPS.

CUPS shows the following under the Printers tab

Code:
Description: Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet P2055dn
Location:
Printer Driver: HP LaserJet P2015 Series Postscript (recommended)
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs, published.
Device URI: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P2055dn?serial=M721073
I just tried to send a test page to the printer and got the same results.

On the junk output on the first page, it shows the following:

Code:
f
/.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef /.notdef
I've searched Google and don't see anyone else having the same issues.

Any ideas?

I suggest you visit http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web...ard/index.html and install hplip. I'm using exactly the same printer with CentOS 5.4 (you didn't tell us which Distro you're using), although I'm using a network connection, not USB.

Anyway, visit the site and follow the wizard to download and install the appropriate software. I'm sure it will work OK then.

Ok, this seems to have worked...

However when I first ran the script from Konsole, it didn't seem to work and recommend to reboot the computer and try again.

So, I went to work today and turned off the computer and once I got home and turned it back on along with the printer and an HP icon popped up in the Tool Rray (sorry, don't know what else to describe it).

I was able to print a ton of stuff and no issues.

So I wonder why the script seemed the flake at first and once I rebooted, it seems to be ok now...

thanks
