ISOLINUX 1.75 2002-06-14 isolinux failed to get sector size

I get "ISOLINUX 1.75 2002-06-14 isolinux failed to get sector size, assuming 8000 isolinux" when booting from my redhat 8.0 CD 1.
I downloaded only the iso images, not the md5sums. Didn't know what they where.
Burnes the images with easy cd 4.0.

Can anyone help me with this little prob?

Thanks.

How exactly did you burn the images?
Have a look at the Easy CD instructions here and if you didn't do it this way then you have a coaster.

I just double-clicked the iso image and Easy Cd Creator started up with the burn dialog box.

Then you most likely have a coaster. The the CD in Easy CD creator stands for Coaster Designer.

The CD started up on another computer so I dont think it's the CD. I had linux 7.2 on the original before. Then i used fdisk and removed the partitions, except one extended i cant remove. then i used fdisk /mbr to remove the lilo startup. Now i try to start with the 8.0 and i get the error message. The 7.2 cd doesnt work any longer either; "SYSLINUX 1.52 Boot failed"

In that case you might have a hardware problem.

I find that hard to believe since I had 7.2 up and running just a couple of days ago. And now i got icepack started on it, but i still want RH.

Aussie 12-16-2002 05:02 AM

Well, looking at the facts so far, we have two seperate cd's each with a different version of redhat that won't boot on this computer but do boot on another box, I'd be looking at the drive first, do you have it set to boot from cdrom in the bios?

tihe 12-16-2002 05:06 AM

Yes I do. I got it to boot and start installing with an icepack linux install CD. But I want RH.

Aussie 12-16-2002 05:11 AM

Ok, check the jumpers on your cdrom, redhat will choke if it's set to cable select.

I got the 7.2 started with the CD now. If i should install this now, can i upgrade the thing to 8.0? If so, how?

Aussie 12-16-2002 05:48 AM

You can use the 8.0 cd to upgrade a previous install...but to do that you still have to boot it, the other option is to create a set of boot floppies, details will be on the cd.

tihe 12-16-2002 05:49 AM

Ok, i think i might try that. Thnk you for your patience and good help.
