Is it possible to shared vmware files between two vmware applications running on two

HI,

here's what I have:

I have a ntfs partition (windows xp) and and a ext3 root (centos 5.4) partitions together with a boot partition and and a shared partition (ext3 type file system) between two OS, i.e. windows xp and Centos 5.4. I've implmented them successfully. The scheme is similar to http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/partitioning 3rd last partitioning scheme.

Is it possible to place vmware files i.e. *.vmx and *.vmdk on the shared partition and allowed these files be access by vmware player on windows xp OS and vmware server on centos 5.4 OS?

thanks

Hi,

In fact, it all depends on the filesystem format you're using on the shared partition. Starting from the fact that both of your OS(es) can access successfully the partition, it should work.

The only pre-requisite you have otherwise you would do the same schema, but with an esx server, is that esx server can only mount and load up images that are on a vmfs partition.

Hope I was clear. Don't hesitate to tell ask more if you don't understand, or have anymore questions.

Thanx,
