Error messages at 2.6.14.6 kernel compile on Debian linux (kernel 2.6.26-2-686)

Hi,
This is about the kernel compile.

When I compiled the linux kernel source 2.6.14.6 with gcc 4.1 on Debian linux (kernel 2.6.26-2-686), there occured a large number of warnings.

such as
Code:
include/asm/mpspec_def.h:78:warning: 'packed' attribute ignored for field of type 'unsigned char[6]'
But when I compiled the linux kernel source 2.6.30.1 with gcc 4.1 on Debian linux (kernel 2.6.26-2-686), there occured just a few of warning.
(same configration, same environment)

What do the above error messages mean??

And why do the error messages occur only in the kernel source 2.6.14.6 ?

I would appreciate your answer.
Thank you.

Sometimes the kernel isn't complied with our versions of GCC and co, they could be older or 'modded' versions. Plus, the kernel source could be have been made on a different platform, and may be no errors there.

If your kernel build works, don't worry about them. It wouldn't hurt anything.
