Hi guys, my son's flash MP3 player needed some help today (filesystem messed) so I popped it into my USB hub, fdisk'd a little (like delete partitions) before I realised my iPod Mini was in it's cradle, I had just fritzed my iPod and NOT my sons player!!!
I have tried extracting the firware from the Apple update exe, dd if=firmware of=/dev/sda1 and also recreating the partitions etc but no joy. Not sure if I lost the bootloader.
Now, I ask does anyone have an iPod Mini (must be 2nd generation) and also runs a Linux machine at home, could you please do the following for me and email me the files? Please?
Code:
su <pass>
dd if=/dev/sda of=bootloader.img count=1
dd if=/dev/sda1 of=firmware.img
sda may be sdb,c,d,e,f etc depending on your system.
I'd also like to see your partition details under Linux, "/sbin/fdisk /dev/sda" and type "p" to list the partition table.
If someone is willing to do this for me, I would be most appreciative! Many thanks in advance.
