iPod 5g (video) how to transfer video(or photos)?

Greetings all,

I purchased a my first iPod a few days ago, as my previous mp3 player finally went to the big parts box in the sky. An I am very impressed with the iPod 5g or video or g5 or whaterver it's real name is.

Alas I have a problem, but first I must share my success;
I'm using Mandriva 2007 with KDE and used Amarok and GTKpod to setup and start using the iPod and all my music works great.
Then using GPixPod I moved some photos to my iPod as I couldn't get them to copy in GTKpod or Amarok, both generated errors regarding unrecognized files.

And thus 2 problems are all that remain;

1.How can I easily transfer videos to my iPod? I understand that I may need to convert them to a different format first, then copy them... but I can't find a method that works for me.

2.How can I transfer album art with the music to my iPod? The album art is embedded in the the mp3's and works in the onscreen display and context panel in Amarok, why doesn't it transfer to the iPod?

3.(yes I know I said to problems, this isn't a problem) is there a single program that I can use to do this (manually in konsole doesn't count)?

I would really appreciate any tips or advice, and I would love specific easy to follow answers, or links to documents that contain said answers.

Many thanks in advance,
Dink27

Update:

UPDATE:
After some serious googleing, I've had two days off work and have barely left my desk;

GTKPod
I have found that gtkpod's site says that gtkpod does not yet suppport album art. But some people claim that artwork works on their iPod using GTKpod to transfer files.
GTKPod now generates an error that it can't write to the ArtworkDB on the iPod. Does this mean that I'm missing somthing or is this GTKpods way of leeting me know that this feature doesnot exist?

Banshee
Were not even going to talk about this one, it's was plain brain damaged on my system.

Amarok
Works great for transfering music, but still missing album Art. Apparently video support was removed, according to one fourm, does this mean there is a way I can get it back on, older version perhaps?

GPixPod
Works well enough for photos

Alas I still do not have my album art, or a way to easily convert and transfer videos.

Ah video, so so many scripts out their that require so much tweaking that leave me with less than optimal results. Is there a simple/easy/straight forward to convert video and get it on the ipod

I'm open to any suggestions,
Thanks,
Dink27

I don't know of any Linux options for converting video to an iPod capable format. I know that if Mac has Handbrake (So does windows, but it's not an official release) and there are softwares such as Xilisoft, ImTOO, and Cucusoft for Windows to convert videos. There is also Videora iPod Converter. Windows is the best platform for that, so if you can get one of those program running under an emulation or possibly dual booting with windows or doing a VMWare install of Windows specifically for that purpose you might be able to get it to work.

There is. Have a look at http://thinliquidfilm.org. It's a pretty nifty gui for converting and uploading video to an ipod.

Cheers
