Question Invalid module error after compiling Acronis module

I'm installing the Acronis agent on a RHEL4 system and after compiling I get this error.

Code:
[root@]# /sbin/modprobe snapapi26
FATAL: Error inserting snapapi26 (/lib/modules/2.6.9-34.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/block/snapapi26.ko): Invalid module format
Running a dmesg I get.

Code:
[root@]# dmesg | grep snap
snapapi26: version magic '2.6.9-34.ELsmp 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.4' should be '2.6.9-34.ELsmp SMP 686 REGPARM 4KSTACKS gcc-3.4'
So I'm assuming it's telling me I am missing SMP in the file but if I go to edit it with vi etc I only get machine code in the files.

Kernel and distro info.

Code:
[root@]# uname -r
2.6.9-34.ELsmp
[root@]# uname -a
Linux 2.6.9-34.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Feb 24 16:54:53 EST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@]# cat /etc/issue
Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update 3)
Kernel \r on an \m
I've also reinstalled this a few times now, using the kernel srpm and lib/module sources, same error after each time.

Any help appreciated, TIA.

Just to add, I was able to find the entry using VI and added SMP to it. Now I don't get the dmesg anymore but I still do get the invalid module error.

Strange, was going to try another reinstall and the installer was able to compile the module for me without having to manually install it.
