Interesting Dual Boot problem

I had XP Pro and Mandrake 9.1 on the same comp, got LILO working well and booted each OS about 2-3 times each.

Then all of a sudden the next time i try to boot i get this all over the screen.

9A9A9A9A9A.......

Then INVALID BOOT DISK.

What may have caused this to happen?

Did you modify any files?

http://www.ipcop.org/1.3.0/en/instal...LO-errors.html

Your error code isn't listed.

Did you try a reboot? Did you get the same error? Does the motherboard see the hard drive during the BIOS POST?

Your MBR might of been corrupted, boot partition problem or a hard drive problem.

You can try to reinstall lilo. Boot using the 1st CD and select rescue mode. See any errors during boot?

Should see a menu where you can select to reinstall bootloader.
If that fails then can you mount the partitions (another menu selection)? Any errors?

To remove lilo you can use the XP install cd and boot to its rescue mode and then use the program fixmbr.

Well

I didnt bother loading Linux back on (this occured about a month or two ago) becuase my wireless LAN adapter wasnt working with it.

But ill be at school in a month, so I will get it back on.

And yes I'm prety sure it detected the hard drive, I figured it was a boot sector problem, just wondered what might have cause it. Was pretty random, just a normal reboot, no big system changes etc.

Ill try it again when i get my new MB and processor in, and check and see how it works out.
