intel wifi 5100 agn not detected!!!


hey guys...
I have backtrack 4 on vmware player...
i have intel (R) wifi 5100 agn wireless card and when i type airmon-ng there is nothing shown on interface....it's empty...
i downloaded a driver from here http://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=Downloads
and i have been told i need kernel rebuild...
i have kernel 2.6.30.9 so how can rebuild it???
can any1 help me???
(sorry if my english are bad)

any help???

Spell out your words.

And if you've DONE the kernel rebuild 'many times', what error(s) did you get? If you've built the module, did you load it? What messages are you then getting in dmesg, or in the system logs???

...and if you did that, why did you not bother to tell us in you first post? Provide all the info, and this won't happen. If you're really inexperienced enough that you can't rebuild a kernel you should pick an easier distribution to use. Backtrack is not for beginners. Try ubuntu.

EDIT: I don't believe you when you say you tried every link on the google search I pointed you to...

clearly indicates that the card IS being detected. So what makes you think it's not? Airmon-ng is one thing...do you actually have the physical interface up and working?? And you are aware that not ALL cards can be shifted into this mode, right?

well when i click on VM there is nowhere my card to connect it with vmware player...so??what can i do about that???
how can i check if my interface is up???
