I have RH7.3 and XP on a box no problem. I use grub though. I've become familiar with it and prefer it to LILO now.
Yes the 2 OS should be on different partitions.

but why use XP?

your better off installing LILO on a floppy instead of tampering with windows and it's NTLDR. This is the safest way to run both as a dual boot.

er atleast this is what i feel right now... Easy atleast.

I installed winME then XP. XP found ME and set it up in the boot menu.

Then I installed Linux, put grub on the MBR. It recognized both fat32 (WinME) and ntfs (WinXP).

I set it up to boot the first hard drive, which is ME. it loads the NT boot menu.

Have one box
hda1 - XP
hda2 - RH7.3

another box
hda1- OpenBSD
hda2 - FreeBSD
hda3 - W2KPr0 broken by XP upgrade
hdb1 - RH7.3

Use grub on both and all Oses work fine, except Win2000/XP but it boots to a screen that says Windows cannot run without yada yada...
