installing vmware problem

When installing vmware, I'm getting an error:

Code:
Deep recursion on subroutine "main::install_dir" at ./vmware-install.pl line 990.
Does anyone know what the problem is? My hard drive is going crazy, and the installer seems to be stuck with that deep recursion error.

Crap. Now I can't run the installer again.

Code:
A previous installation of VMware software has been detected.
And it won't let me run the installer anymore.
