Installation help

I am still struggling to install Linux on my new computer. Now for more than a month I am struggling to install. Yesterday I bought the SuSE Linux 10.0 DVD.

My computer is very new. It is a 64 bit
computer. It has a mother board from '' ALi " .

I can't install the SuSE Linux. The message is as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Probing hard disks
----------------

Error
-----

No hard disks were found for the installation. Please check your hardware.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

What shall I do?

[I have had Mandrake Linux for over 2 years. The computer went to hell. Now I bought this new 64 bit computer. I tried to install RedHat Fedora. It didn' t work either. The problems are impossible to solve. Some friends in this forum asked me to go to the motherboard manufacturers' home page and download some drivers to solve the installation problem of Fedora. It doesn't recognize the floppy drives. I made several floppies which has drivers. None of the floppies don't recognize.]

I am really, really, really fed up nowadays. How can I live without Linux? I hope some of you can come up with a new idea as to the installation of SuSE 10.0

Gins - I have merged your two threads as they are both about the same thing. And improved on the titles, too.

Thanks XavierP

I hope someone will help me. I am desperate. I have been working with Linux for years.
I love Linux. I have latest version of SuSE 10.0 DVD and 4 CDs of latest RedHat Fedora Core 4.

Nothing works. Buy the way I bought the latest Knoppix Linux 4.0 version. It is a live DVD.
I can insall it and do some work like use the word processor.

I can't go to the Internet. It doesn't recognize my network card. I spent about 7 hours yesterday to fix the problem. It stubbornly refuses to accept
my network card. It is a builtin network card. It is on the motherboard.

I could format the floppy disk in Linux format using Knoppix.

On top of that it recognizes the Windows XP side of my computer. So I could copy the drivers I downloaded using the Windows XP.

[ Using Partition Magic Program I have made a Linux partition on my computer. Knoppix beautifully recognizes the Linux partitions.]

I hope someone could come with an idea to install Linux. I am desperate.
