Installing Packages?


How do i install packages throught the console in RH8, I cant install anymore using the package manager cuz it stopped working, nothing happens when i click on the packages icon. thanks

Its its an RPM then you can do:

rpm -ivh package-name.rpm

man rpm for more details and options

I am trying to install the package manager program so i can install packages throught Kde, I have RH8 and the packages icon does nothing when i clikc on it

No, because I dont know what packages to install to make the package manager in Kde work.

Have you tried, from the command line, redhat-config-packages or redhat-rpm-config ?
Don't know if those will help you find the package manager package or not, but they might have some listings you can search through for 'package' or something.

Thanks, the redhat-system-config worked, I dont know how but after typing that in the console now the icons works
