installing mp3 driver


im having trouble installing the madplay mp3 driver, when i try to configure it it tells me that it cant find gcc and that no acceptable C compiler is found in $Path, but i know for a fact that gcc is installed. what's goin gon?

Post the output of

./configure

here. What library is it trying to detect exactly. Sometimes it looks for a different version of the library. If that is the case, you can use a symbolic link with the name of the library it is looking pointing to the name of the actual library on your system.

If you know for a fact that gcc is installed, try "locate bin/gcc"
or just "locate gcc".

If the path to the gcc executable is not in your PATH variable (echo $PATH), you should add it. For example, if you get /usr/bin/gcc, then you should do
export PATH=/usr/bin:$PATH

/usr/bin should already be in your path, though, so gcc is apparently in some weird location.

so i did a locate command, and it lcoated some gcc compilers in lib/modules/.6.8-1.521/build/in clude/linux

so what do i do now? how do i export?

Just curious...what makes you so certain that gcc is installed? I'm beginning to think that it's not.

well because when i tried installing a gcc package it told me that it was already installed
