Installing Linux w/o a CD-ROM

I just looking at an old laptop (IBM Thinkpad 360Cs) that has Win 3.1. I am trying to install MEPIS, but the old laptop doesn't have a CD-ROM drive. Is there still any way I could still install MEPIS? Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to install it using a kernel loopback device. Look here: http://www.slackware.com/faq/do_faq....installation#1

Thanks, but the problem is, is that the old laptop only has dial-up, from a pcmcia port (it doesn't have a build-in modem.) If I already have MEPIS on cd, is it possible to transfer is to the laptop?

If you have the space to store the ISO images you could add a vFat partion and do a hard disk install and then delete the partion after.

What you would need to do then is take the HDD out, mount it in an existing system, put the image on the HDD, the put it back in.
