Installed OpenSuse 11.1 on my 2nd hard drive, unable to boot

I just installed opensuse 11.1 on my 2nd hard drive (installed as slave on IDE), read by the installation program as sdb. I made some free space on the hard drive (about 8 GB) separate from the Windows NTFS partition on it so that I could install Opensuse. I installed opensuse using the regular installer, using the partition-based installer because the LVM based gave me some red text. Then, the system rebooted, and the screen looked really weird (maybe x hadn't loaded yet), but then i restarted again, and it gave me GRUB error 21. So, I restored my windows mbr and put in my installation disk again and clicked repair. I asked it to reinstall the bootloader, but it said it could not find a root partition! I know that my hard drive was formatted because the partition manager said it was, but there was no /boot mountpoint or anything next to the ext3 paritions. It also said that both my ext3 partititons were corrupted, but wouldn't let me fix it because it said both were being used. What can I do to get to dual boot with Opensuse 11.1 installed on my second hard drive?

If I understand you well on SDB is windows and opensuse ?
What is on SDA ?
Where did you write GRUB ?
From with drive do you boot ?
Before installing opensuse show a summary of the install process , one the things she shows you is the mount point .
What was the mount point ?
How may ext3 do you have and how is it defined ?

SDA is my main drive, it is completely NTFS with Windows system files. SDB with NTFS is just a storage partition. I boot from SDA. I am not sure where GRUB got installed, I don't quite remember the mount point. The install process autogenerated 2 ext3 partitions on SDB (separate from the NTFS partiton) and one swap partition. I am not sure what "defined" is (I am still a bit new to the whole Linux thing).

If you did not change it opensuse install GRUB on SdA and set mount point SDA c:/windows
That is the reason why you have to restore windows MBR
The two partitions made by opensuse on SDB one should be a primary partition you can recognize by this sign /
If you miss this sign in my opinion there is only one option left reinstall make sure that have you on SDB a primary and a secondary partition for opensuse.
The order of the HD before and after installing should be same.
A other possibility is if the BIOS let you change the boot order from SDA to SDB to install on SDB and put GRUB on SDB
In this case SDB must be the boot device while installing
And you to tell opensuse to install GRUB on SDB see install procedure
So you do not have to touch windows MBR
Bad thing is that have you to change the boot order of HD if you like to change OS
