install to usb stick
Recently ive been playing with live cd knoppix and dsl, using both on usb sticks. i was wondering, is it possible to perform a full installation of a linux distro, ie slackware, to a usb stick? i mean during the install when i am asked where to install to can i select a usb stick or would this not work? grub could also be installed on the stick right? to make it a full os on a removable disk
just curious really
Yes, you can install to the USB stick. You may need to edit the "menu.lst" later on though because the "root" parameter will probably be set incorrectly. You may also need to edit "fstab" and regenerate the initrd file. These are the sort of problems you encounter when using any removable storage for booting.
