Install RHL8 from Windows command Prompt
hello
for some reason, i am not able to boot from cd/dvd in a hp notebook, either with copies of RHL 8 or the original install media. System is able to boot from the xp pro/98 cds :( by booting via safe mode with command prompt from xp pro, i can perhaps used a command to start the installation of red hat linux 8 from within the xp command prompt? thanks |
Are you sure that you have burned the cds correctly? Did you check the md5sums?
These links will help to determine if everything is good with your cds: http://linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/howtoburn.html http://linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/verifyiso.html BTW: RH8 is an older version of RH (and some say it is buggy). You would be better off grabbing Fedora if you want a recent RH system. BTW2: have you tried creating a boot floppy and booting from that? |
Yes, you are right. Tried installing in another system booting from floppy to access the CD media & nada. Looks like I need to download it again. Thanks the links. Usually do not pay attention to that but it these are times of changes..
