I installed Vector linux on my multi-boot system and didn't install grub because I didn't see a way to not mess with the MBR. I already have grub legacy installed to MBR and just wanted to add to the menu.lst.
I have done some searching and looking but haven't found the answer to the question below.
Now, can I install grub to the root partition where I installed Vector or should I just re-install and let it write to mbr and redo mbr later?
simply make vector linux install boot loader to its root partition, then chainload from the other grub
That is what I normally do when installing another distro. However, I didn't see or understand what was offered to me during the gui install to the point that I could install it to its root partition. I looked for it but maybe I didn't look close enough. I will just re-install and look again.
Some hide it under 'expert' or 'options' usually with the partition options.
Yes, I have seen that before but I didn't on this one. Since installing grub comes at the end of the install, the simplest thing for me to do is re-install and look harder.
