Lightbulb Install any Linux just from HDD

Hey once more.
I have source .iso file so I was wondering if this article still works or needs corrections:
http://www.instantfundas.com/2007/08...ctly-from.html
Maybe there is other(easier) solution? Its 2011.year afterall.. I know about Virtualbox idea but i need install it directly like from CD|DVD|USB but without any of that since my PC is bit too weak for virtualisation. Maybe i can create seperate partitions, on one i can extract .iso and somehow boot linux from it then install to other partition? I know this looks lame but i really need it - i have no USB flash and my DVD-RW needs replacement and i like experiment. Thanks

P.S.Who knows? It might work for Windows and BSD aswell..

Honestly, I don't see why you would want to do it this way. If anything, create new partitions and copy everything over. That's all I can think of.... But if I were you, I recommend getting a new CD/DVD drive.

check pendrivelinux.com.

You can boot from an iso on a USB drive via grub so I'd think you could do the same on a hard drive. There are other options there, too.

I've got a 16 GB pen drive with several iso images so I can boot various systems for test, diagnostics, or system install as needed.
