What I want to know about inodes and can't find anywhere
How does the system assign the "inode" value to whatever ?
Is it a one-up number and if so, where does the system keep track of this ?
Are file inodes based on the inode of the directory it lives in ?
And are pids of executables created based on the inode of that executable ?
Thanks, Donna
