incorrect user name or password

Hello,

We have quite Windows XP machines can't login Samba NT domain. Everytime we try to login, it says "incorrect username or password...etc.". Reboot/shutdown doesn't help. Linux boxes login fine. Can someone give us some ideas? Some users on Internet say disable "Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data" and we did but it didn't help. It happens widely and not isolate to a user or workstation.

Thank you.

Different password encryption schemes is being used, one for Samba, one for Windows XP, the simple fix is here;

Hi Lenard,

Thanks for replying. If I install the patch then all the passwords will travel in clear text. Is this how you or others doing this? Is there any other way to do this?

I said this was the simple fix, some do it this way others use a more complex way. The Red Hat manuals describe (for example) the more complex way, as well as the Samba.org site's documentation.

sorry for not mentioning this before but XP authenticate to an LDAP and the problem happen intermittently and it getting worse and worse. Sometime it works when I unjoin it from the Samba NT domain and rejoin it.

Thanks again
