incorrect samba capacity when mapped in windows !!

Hi all
i have installed a samba server on a fedora 18 minimal. the folder that i am sharing is actually a cephfs (i am testing the ceph, which is working ok as far as i can see).
the total cephfs capacity reported by df -H is 900G (3 x 300G drives), when i mount the samba folder to other linux boxes (fedora 16 and centos 6.3) the size is exactly the same as in the server. the problem starts when i map the drive in windows 2008 (tried 3 different machines), the capacity is reported as 3.27G. the free space appears to be relative to the actual free space, i.e. when i copy files into the folder it increases. it now reads about 900M used but if i select every thing inside it reports about 14G !! removing every thing will set the used space to 0
if i share a 300G drive the size in the windows is reported correctly
the windows can see a 20TB disk shared by another windows 2008 with no issues
am i missing some thing or ...??!! any one seen this before? i feal like the windows is reading only 32 bit of the capacity.
i have googled around with no results but old stuff about win xp

any ideas on how to debug or pin point this is appreciated, still not sure if the problem is in the linux or windows.
