In which channel data goes in a smart grid?

A smart grid uses analogue or digital information and communications technology to gather and act on information, such as information about the behaviors of suppliers and consumers, in an automated fashion to improve the efficiency, reliability, economics, and sustainability of the production and distribution of electricity.

The information flows in the electricity cables, or with wireless communication?

If you read the rest of the Wikipedia article you're quoting, you'd see that it's essentially both, with a few more methods also.
