I currently use it at home, but soon to be in a new position at work on the IT staff where we run it for DNS, Mail, and DHCP as well as personal management stations.

RIght now I just use Linux at home for day-to-day stuff, but I'm trying to learn more about server tasks so that I can convince my school to switch their main servers over from Win2k to Linux. It's not working yet, the head tech person at our school is into Macs and wouldn't know a commandline if one bit her in the nose. :-)

I use Linux for everything. Over the past several months, I have been on a quest to find packages that have interoperability with M$, are stable and easy to use. I feel I have been very successful! I have a very useable home/office workstation. I leave the server stuff to the professionals. I am to the point now that I have removed M$ completely from my computers.

work & home

I use linux at home and work. At home so I can work on open source projects and get on the Internet. I'm using it at work for routers, firewalls, and just about any server function available. Plus it makes a great Java developer's workstation!

It's my file server, backup and former mail server (thanks to Telus for not providing service to my new address). It's also my desktop box. We're looking at getting ot to a couple of clients before the end of the year as a real desktop solution.

work & home (if Uni can be called work :-)

I initially started using it just to see what all the fuss was about, then i started to glimpse just some of the amazing capabilities of Linux/Unix.
This led to interest in the politics of GNU and the FSF which has only served to further my enthusiasm for all things *nix.
Using linux has forced me to read lots of docs, make lots of mistakes, write some nifty code and made me a better human being in general (yeah, right :^)
As a result of the steep learning curve involved if you want to get any kind of satisfaction from it, i am now so far ahead of other (non *nix) people in my year and at the lab i work at in regards to computing concepts and general know-how that ive been offered a full time job 8 months beofre i've even completed my degree!!

I guess thats got nothing to do with this topic, but there you go anyway... :-)

See's ya's

use it for everything. I figure that if everyone does, it can only get better. Linux is more stable and more secure, so I see more potential.

I use it at home for Cable Router and firewall / everything. I have a small lan with winme, 98, nt/2000. It is my wins server, samba etc... etc... etc...

Most of all I use it for learning to use it. Something I like to do.

I use it at work, by my choice as a server for adsl Router and firewall / the whole nine yards. We have around 30 systems of various type on it. My choice is linux over micro$oft because it is designed for what I am doing. It is free, You don't need to totally upgrade the system and spend more money everytime a new feature is added. It has thousands of tools and features.

I downloaded my distro from redhat which is a great service, I signed up for free updates which I maintain all my systems with, I receive an email if a system has a bug fix, outdated files, or a security issue and I use up2date to keep them all upgraded. Have not spent one red cent.

IT'S FREE
IT'S GREAT
IT'S MINE

I use Linux at both home and work. I have 3 Linux machines running in my cublicle right now. One is my WS, one is a test MySQL server and the other is just a spare. Right now we are only using Linux as DNS servers. Although we are supposed to bring a FTP server on-line in the next week. I have been and still am trying to convince people here that Linux could save us TONS of money and still do what we need reliably. It's not easy though, my employer is so in bed with Micro$oft I don't know if there is any hope. Never mind all the AS/400 fanatics we have working here. Sorry, I'm rambling.
