im not a newbie i just dont understand a few things!
 
am currently running redhat/xp/ikon sys (ikon sys sux its my lil os, and no im sorry but i wont distribute it id rather save the imbaresment )any ways i cant figure out how to make my sound card work i'v had redhat on here for about 7 months now and it sux with no sound if anyone could help id really aprecite it.

my second question is i need a note book i am really lovin the ibook but i dont know if its worth any time or if i should go with a toshiba, ibm, or a sony all i want to do is remove the bullsh*t xp that will come preloaded and butter her up with linux so witch would be good cheap and compatible so i could really get down and learn how use it and never look or even hear about windoze again. thanx for ur time.

and also id like to apoligize for my constant mispelling of words.:cry:

I'm a big fan of the IBM stinkpads. Toshiba dropped to second place after going with 'pretty' over rugged case formats.

Knowing what type of sound card and what version of Redhat your running would probably help us determine that. Also what have you tried so far ?
Its hard for us to help you when were just guessing at it, which doesn't usually work, which also makes me ask these sorts of questions back to you.

Run sndconfig as root in a console or from the command line. Unless you have a really unusual system, sndconfig will set it up for you.
