i2c version 2.4.20

im wondering how i can figure out which version of i2c is in kernel 2.4.20. i need to have i2c in the kernel, not just a module for my em8300. but i also want lm_sensors running to watch my MPs. i think patching the kernel with i2c 2.7.0 is way over my head.
so if i can figure out which version of i2c is in the kernel i can just download the matching lm_sensors package and not have to do any patching nonsense.
i tried grepping the 2.4.20 changelog for 'i2c' but no version numbers are mentioned. any ideas?

Sorry Im looking over my old post having trouble remembering what I was doing at that time.
I think, at the time I was under the impression em8300 wanted i2c compiled INTO the kernel to work. but lm_sensors could not have it compiled in because the version of i2c has to match the version of lm_sensors. So i was trying to figured out what version was being used in 2.4.20 so I could download the matching lm_sensors.

however I later realized that em8300 didnt need to be compiled in as i had previously thought. and that i had been forgetting the algo-bit-banging.
I also came to the realization that patching wasnt very hard. in fact it was easy. if you for some reason need i2c compiled in i would give patching a shot. post back if you need help with that.
but in response to your question I never figured out which version of i2c was in 2.4.20. but its not 2.7.0.

another thing to note is i dont think it will matter in the future. I read somewhere that in the upcoming 2.6 kernels lm_sensors and i2c wont have to be the exact same version. woohoo!
