I would like to run a command on boot.

Hi, I would like to run the command 'synergyc -f 292.148.6.12' on boot. But im unsure in what boot level it should be run at?

And which files should I edit? I use Mandrake 10.

Thanks

I think editing rc.local will do.

Not sure what you mean by "boot level". Technically, I think "boot" is more about getting the kernel loaded and running. The first thing the kernel does is run "init" which draws on several config files to see what services, daemons, apps, etc. to start.
The first config file of interest is "/etc/inittab" which in turn points to several others. "rc.local"---mentioned earlier---is one of the later config files looked at.

Not understanding.....by "the service" do you mean the thing you wnat to run automatically? And "that server" means xwindows?

The thing you want to run: What is it? If there are not other things that depend on it, then start it late in the init process. If it depends on other things (eg xwindows), then start it LAST.
