I want to avoid password requests

Without using the root account, is there any way I can avoid being asked for passwords on particular tasks? If so, how? This is my computer and no one else's, so stopping to enter passwords annoys me.

Yes, look into the "sudo" command. Essentially, you'll need to add yourself to the /etc/sudoers file.

I'm not sure what the password rules are for sudo, but it doesn't ask every single time.

Not with an entry like
Code:
%wheel ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL
or
Code:
username ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL

Kind of like having a gun with no safety, though.

By default sudo asks you for the password if the previous sudo request was more than 15 minutes ago.

I personally would not want to run sudo without requiring a password to be entered.

I would say that it's like having a loaded gun with no saftey and leaving it on the kitchen table

EDIT:- just read the link.

I suppose, it's not too bad if it's set correctly and not allowing ALL=NOPASSWD: (ALL) ALL
