I wanna build a Linux cluster
 

I want to put a Linux cluster together.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? What kind of open-source software can I use, and where can I get a good HOWTO page?

You might want to start with OpenMosix, which makes things very easy to begin with.

That double post was an accident, but I guess some people seem to run around inside their heads believing that people really love to make double posts to annoy moderators.

look into beowulf clusters, also you might be interested in clustering FreeBSD, it works very well :)

I closed it and figured it was. In the future if you accidently double post due to browser problems, etc. Just edit one of the threads stating this and ask a moderator to close it. I only put the generic response in to make others aware cause some members just seem to lack the skill of reading rules, etc. ;)

You might want to buy Scyld Beowulf from Linux Central.

Unfortunately, it's limited to one processor per master/slave, but it's a good place to get started. I have 13 PCs in my house running a beowulf with this software. It's simple to setup.

At the moment, I'm looking into OpenMosix and ClusterKnoppix. I think both these tools look like the DIY open source solution I was looking for.

Better get my stripes in building clusters before enterprise cluster computing becomes popular ;)
