I wanna build a Linux cluster
I want to put a Linux cluster together.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? What kind of open-source software can I use, and where can I get a good HOWTO page? |
You might want to start with OpenMosix, which makes things very easy to begin with.

how about u start with learning how to post only once? next learn what to ignore

That double post was an accident, but I guess some people seem to run around inside their heads believing that people really love to make double posts to annoy moderators.
.......In which case I pity them. |
look into beowulf clusters, also you might be interested in clustering FreeBSD, it works very well :)

You might want to buy Scyld Beowulf from Linux Central.
Unfortunately, it's limited to one processor per master/slave, but it's a good place to get started. I have 13 PCs in my house running a beowulf with this software. It's simple to setup. |
Thanks for everyone's replies.
At the moment, I'm looking into OpenMosix and ClusterKnoppix. I think both these tools look like the DIY open source solution I was looking for. Better get my stripes in building clusters before enterprise cluster computing becomes popular ;) |
