I have xserver-xorg 6.9.0.dfsg.1-4. The problem I am having involves connecting my IBM A31 laptop to an external monitor or tv via the svga port. Once X is started or I'm in KDE, connecting the vga cable and hitting fn+F7 (the combination used to switch it to crt, lcd, or both), it does nothing at all.
It does work when I do it at the command line, so what I have to do is switch it before X or gdm is started. Unfortunately, that has the very nasty effect of forcing a 640x480 video mode (ewwwww!), and it can not be changed.
Also, when X is not running, I can switch it to CRT only, but it changes it back when I start X.
It used to work fine, but now it doesn't. I don't know what to blame it on (the update from xfree86 to xorg? Changing my driver from VESA to ATI via dpkg-reconfigure?).
