I Need Help With My Web Server

Hi every1,

The Situation:-
I have installed apache and mysql, on several different Distros of linux and they all work.... to a certain extent. For the life of me i cant get the DBI to work.

Wot I want to do:-
I want to make a CGI website link to a mysql database. I have used a few books and got some examples of code.

The Problem:-
I tested my server to see if the cgi is working, and it is working. But if i try a script which uses the database i get "Internal Server Error". Then i tried a perl script at the prompt and it errored saying it was missing a pm file. i found out that i needed to install DBI, DBD and mSql Modules. I had tonnes of problems ranging from "errors on line x" to just "fail" evertually after days of fiddling i manage to get the perl script working from the prompt, but its still not working on my apache webserver with cgi

I installed this on redhat 7 then tried slackware. the pc has a fresh installation of slack on it now and seems to be almost working apart from the cgi databe access.

Has any1 got any ideas wot i'm doing wrong. This is for my project for uni, i need it to test my scripts

thnx

smurf

You need the DBD and DBI installed for mysql. Go to mysql.com for more info on this. The modules are available on cpan.

If you installed these and the scripts aren't working as cgi, first check to see if the script is executable, then mack sure the directory you are running from is setup in the httpd.conf apache file to be a cgi directory.

I've done all that u have said already mate.. and i know the cgi server works cos it works with simple perl scripts that dont include DBI.
