During my Fedora 5 installation adventures I figured out how to do custom partitioning. I have 2 120G disk which I wanted to be a RAID1. I partitioned them as RAID but when I did the LVM part I combined the two RAID partition into one LVM volume.
Is this wrong? If so, what the simplest way of fixing this? Then, how can I confirm that it's actually a RAID1?
You should be fine. LVM is just a way they organize their volumes. LVM stands for Logical volume Managment. Can you boot your machine. What if any errors are you getting?
Everything is working fine as far as I can tell. I'm booting to SCSI disks using a promise (Ultra 133 TX2) card with the 2 RAID disks. When I copy to and from '/home' both HDD LEDS go on and flash exactly the same.
I'm assuming that the card BIOS is doing all the morroring work, I just don't know how to comfirm that it's actually running as a RAID1. I'm still feeling my way around Fedora, if there were error logs, where would I find them?
If both drives are flashing at the same time then that means there is a good chance it is working. The only other way I would know to test it out would be to unplug one of the hard drives and see if linux still fires off. I don't know of the repercutions of doing this so YOu may have potential data loss. I would backup all important data first.
