I changed my ip adress and now my router doesnt work!


I have a linksys router and i changed my ip adress to see if it would help me host games. Well now my router doesnt work and i have tried reinstalling the software it came with but i only get so far as the choose your password then it just starts cycleing loading, then asking for pass, loading then asking for pass. Please help me.

reset the router to factory defaults. Ask its manual how to do that.

When you say you've changed your IP address.. what exactly do you mean.. and how did that lead to the router not working?

i mean i went to the routers page and i change ip adress on it

Couldn't you just change it back?

Regardless, I agree with AlucardZero. Resetting to factory defaults, and reconfiguring your connection should do it, and thats probably what I would do in this situaton..

hi,
did you also change you ip address on your computer?? i dont know if it would of done it manually so maybe you could give that ago

well i got past the first thing but now it says my router wont connect to the internet and i have checked all the cords and they are fine

You probably have to power cycle the modem too.

What does this have to do with Linux, by the way?
