i can't write message to someone..with 'write'


is it ok to change owner group /dev/tty[0..7]
to tty group?

write: you have write permission turned off.
[eugene@beautifulmind project1]$ mesg y
mesg: error: tty device is not owned by group `tty'
[eugene@beautifulmind project1]$ ls -l /dev/tty* | grep 'root root'

How can you write to charles in tty7 ? he is not at all logged in tty7 Otherwise the owner of /dev/tty7 shud be charles.

also i think the problem can be solved by changing the group of all /dev/tty* from root to tty
