httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin


Rebooted the server and noticed apache was still down, restarted httpd in WHM and got httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin.

I ran this:

root@server [~]# /usr/sbin/httpd configtest
-bash: /usr/sbin/httpd: No such file or directory

How is it suddenly gone?

Good question ... did you make any configuration changes to the server (removing packages, etc.)? If not, perhaps the machine was broken into? Check the record of last logins and run rkhunter and/or chkrootkit on the system. Either you deleted /usr/sbin/httpd yourself, or somebody else did.
