I'm looking for a WYSIWYG HTML editor. I'm most familliar with Dreamweaver on the windows platform. The only thing I've been able to find on the linux platform is IBM WebSphere HomePage builder, and that doesn't look very promising. Any ideas?
have you checked out www.linuxapps.com or www.sourceforge.net for apps... there are more than just IBM's but i can't help as I usually use just a text editor for mine..
I agree with taz, quanta is an excellent editor with php, javascript and css support as well as html. It even has a php de bugger and a syntax checker for the others. Its not as WYSIWYG as dreamweaver in that you have to build your pages by code but it does have an excellent page preview when used with kde/konqueror.
WINE may be able to load a windows WYSIWYG web editor
Thinking of a WYSIWYG web editor on linux the obvious netscape composer comes to my mind. Though this is pretty good, after using Dream Weaver you may be looking for something better.
Until we have some nice WYSIWYG web editor for Linux you can try using wine ( www.winehq.com) to load one of the windows web editors. I have tried Namo Web Editor( www.jasc.com) on linux using WINE. I have a Suse 7.3 and Win 98 dual boot system. The Name web editor was already installed in windows. You can go to WINE Application Database (http://appdb.codeweavers.com/appindex.php) and see if your current windows web editor is supported by WINE.
If you have not used wine before, please read the wine documentation before using it.

No one is suggesting one cause there aren't any really in the Linux world. We try to suggest the best alternatives instead of telling people to run a Windows WYSIWYG in an emulator or using a plain old text editor like vi.
And from my understanding, Quanta and Bluefish which are the most popular html editors in Linux have simple ways to preview the page in your browser of choice, someone correct me if I am wrong, as I don't use either of them on a daily basis.
