Question .htaccess in subdirectorys

hi guys, I have created a simple password auth system for the root of my web directory using .htaccess, but I wanted to know if there is any way of overriding the setting for a sub-directory, for instance ...

Allowed to go here : www.mydomain.com/diroktoview
But nowhere else

This is basically because I use the host for transfering files easily between college systems and my home systemand would like it secured, but I host a small site for someone and therefore I dont want his directory to keep asking for a password

cheers guys
