Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Ive recently been trying to install RH9 onto an old PC with the highpoint HPT370 raid card. Ive loaded the driver during the install and I partition and install linux to sda. However it seems no matter where I install grub or lilo, they fail to boot. Upon system restart, the system stalls after checking the floppy and cd drives for boot media. If I have a redhat boot disk inserted, I can boot into RH just fine, however I can not boot off of the hard drive. Where should I be installing the boot loader?
Also, one more sort-of related question. How can I get / make a driver for the hpt370 card for use with fedora linux. Highpoint does not have a fedora driver on their site, and I cant install fedora with a redhat driver. It seems like the fedora install does have a generic HPT driver but it dosnt work at all. Id rather install fedora, but since there's no drivers for it, I have to use redhat 9 and hope that a fedora driver is released by Highpoint.
