...anyone successfully dealt with this sound card/modem problem?
I have used google search and seen hints that drivers may be out by now, but nothing more

I am posting this for future searchers...Ive seen this question everywhere...it is mainly what a google search yields, people asking this in a discussion group.

and linuxdoc.org has a help file for conexant/rockwell which includes chip ID instruction and installing on various kernels up to 2.4

Did you get the sound card sorted? If not, what card and what version of SuSe.

These conexant/lucent/USR/'everyone on the planet there for a minute' winmodems have probably made linux geeks the leaders in the broadband rollout.
