howto switch btw. 2 sound cards?

I have problems switching between my two hardware sound cards in Suse Linux 9.1. Both cards are installed and configured with yast2 correctly.

I can switch between them in xmms/options/preferences/output plugin/ when I change the sound server to ALSA. Alsa provides and option to switch between both cards.

Is there any program or script which performs this task?

Any feedback is very much appreciated.

realos; check these (3) three issues to eliminate problem. 1st kernel module, 2nd permission, 3rd configuration. which ever is not eliminated that is where problem lives. ready to go dig it out, ok go to work go go go.

there is not problem neither with modules nor with permissions. I remember having switched between both sound cards with an older suse version. But in 9.x, things seem to have change.

What I need to find out is HOW to switch between the cards.
