How to write a program that captures joystick input?

Ok

Was wondering how to I capture analog data from the joystick?
I mean once I have installed the joystick driver, how do I write a program that captures the joystick data? and do something about it?

Thanks
Chris

I am not familiar with the subject so will make the assumption the Joystick is USB. If it is then you can snoop on it like that, though it will require a payment of small pennies to the evil Microsoft. When they enable something useful though is it so wrong to reimburse them for it.

Should allow you to capture the data you need just by wiggling the joystick around.
