How to use Mutt with smtpauth

My university's mail system requires me to send mail through their smtpauth server, I am assuming because of problems with falsified spam. Anyway, people who use Outlook or Mozilla just have to turn on TLS and everything works. I however use ssmtp, fetchmail, and mutt as my current mail setup. Does anyone know what MTA I can use that will be able to interact with the smtpauth/TLS server? This is more of a general unix problem than a linux one, but any help is greatly appreciated.

I should also add that I have attempted to compile (using portage, as I use gentoo) ssmtp with ssl built in, but it didn't seem to work. Also, if anyone can point me towards documentation that would help me figure out the problem myself, that would be equally appreciated.

Thanks.

Matt

Mutt is not a mta! therefore your question does not have an answere. Mutt uses your mta to send mail. More info on
http://www.mutt.org/.
Simply install any of the following: sendmail, postfix, exim..... and they will deliver mails for you.

fyi:
mta: mail transport agent
